Iphone 5c Serial Number

Chances are you'll need to locate your iPhone serial number at some point. Here are six ways to do it depending on the state of the iPhone and your OS. That includes iPhone 5, iPhone 5C.

At some point in time, you may need to know your iPhone’s serial number and SIM number. And if you don’t have your own phone number memorized, well, it goes without saying that you’ll need to look that up, too. Here’s where to find these three numbers on your iPhone.

Find your phone number

I know, I know, you probably know your cell number by heart, but if you’re anything like me, it may take months for you to memorize your number, especially if you recently changed it.

iOS gives you a couple different ways to find your phone number. One method is to go to Settings > Phone and then look for “My number.” This will give you your country code, area code, and number. Alternately, you can go to the Phone app, tap Contacts, then scroll all the way to the top. Tap your name and number, and you can edit your own contact card.

Find your serial number

To locate your phone’s serial number, go to the Settings app, tap General, then tap About to view various details about your phone. Scroll down and look for the “Serial Number” entry, and make a note of the alphanumeric string that follows.

Find your SIM card number

Each SIM card has a unique identifier known as an “integrated circuit card identifier,” or ICCID for short. To find this number, head back over to Settings > General > About, scroll down, and look for the ICCID. An ICCID can be quite long, so you’ll want to check and double-check it if you write it down.

Settings > General > About also provides a number of other details about your phone, such as your phone’s model number, its IMEI (another unique identifier that applies to the phone itself), and which version of iOS you’re currently running.

In iOS 7, Apple added an anti-theft feature called Activation Lock to the Find My iPhone service, which ties your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with your Apple ID so that your lost or stolen iOS device cannot be used or restored without the login credentials.

If you’re planning to buy a second hand or used iPhone or iPad running on iOS 7 or later then one of the things you should do is to check its Activation Lock Status to ensure that the Find My iPhone Activation Lock is turned off and the device is ready to use.

This is important as you won’t be able to use a device that has Activation Lock turned on, unless you know the Apple ID login details, and it is important to ensure that the device is not a stolen or lost device. Apple has launched a new service, which allows users to check the Activation Lock status of a device.

You can follow this guide to find out how to check the Activation Lock Status:

  • You need the IMEI or Serial Number of the device to check the Activation Lock Status. If you’re buying the device, then you should ask the seller to provide the IMEI or Serial Number. There are a number of ways to find the IMEI or serial number of the device. You can check our guide if you need help.

  • And then press Continue.
  • If you get the message informing you that the Activation Lock is on like the one seen below then you should inform the seller that they should erase the device and remove it from their account.
  • If the seller or previous owner is with you then you can ask them to enter their Apple ID and password on the Activate screen to remove the device from their account.
  • If the seller or previous owner is not present, then you can ask them to follow our guide on how to turn off Activation Lock remotely.

  • If you get the message that the Activation Lock is ‘Off’ then the device is ready to use.

This method is not completely foolproof as the seller who may have stolen or found the lost device can always give you the wrong serial number of IMEI or Serial number if you’re buying it online. So it is recommended to meet the seller in person so you can do the verification, before buying the device.
