The more I play this record, the more I like it. Like all JM albums, they never drop in quality from each listen on the contrary. I am a songwriter myself and I have learned a lot from James, often I find myself thinking; damn, I wish I had written that song. He sure know how to tell a story and make you understand. I have bought all his albums now 2 times, and I got them all unwrapped, making sure that I got his albums at my disposal. In my book he is one of a kind. Start with his awesome debut if you haven't heard him, and go chronologically. His debut is a masterpiece, and in fact may be my favorite album of all time, if I had to make such an almost impossible desertion, that album I would choose. Now, I haven't described his music, and I am not a very informative reviewer I know, but his music is very moving in a subtle way, its down to earth and understated but it is so much more powerful for it, to me ha makes me se the magic of the ordinary, the every day life, and the the preciousness of ordinary people and their struggles in life. He sings about the stuff that really does matter in my opinion, and all of this is why I listen to music. If you like simple but effective americana/countryrock (I dont know what to call it really) with eminent song lyrics and wonderful vokal performance even though dead pan as it is, this record won't let you down. And the song at the end with the bagpipe, it shot right into my heart like pullet, fantastic again. Hope you keep writing song James, they mean a lot to me and has helped my struggle for surviving in my life.
