[HOW TO] Automatic torrent download and filtering via RSS
I have been looking a long time to automate the process of downloading torrents from various website using RSS feeds. i was using freenas-rss-extension with the old freenas .72, but since I decided to use the 8.01RC I have to find another way.
After days of looking around a stumbled with flexget, and I wanted to share it just in case someone else is looking for this functionality.
this is a simple guide on how to get it working with FreeNAS 8.01 RC1.
We start with installing transmission. I used This guide to setup transmission on my box.
After getting transmission installed and tested, it's time to install flexget. SSH to your FreeNAS box as root. You can use Putty or any other tool of your liking. from the command prompt type:
This should start an automated setup on your freenas box, detailed installation guide can be found here.
Once flexget is installed, it is time to customize it. Using Putty again, navigate to your home folder. Follow the following commands in your SSH
The last command will start a text editor where you need type your configuration. to make it easy, i will include my current config.yml. Just keep in your mind the configuration file is sensitive to spaces. you should make sure you have at least 2 spaces indent on each sub condition.

Now as you can see, there are so many details that you can customize. a full guide is available on FlexGet, you can also use this script to download your TV series with special settings for series, the guide has everything you need. After you have completed your setting up to your needs, it is time to test. use the following command to run in a test mode:
you should get several lines representing the results showing what is accepted and what is rejected and why it is rejecting.
Once you get Flexget to come with the results that match your needs, it is time to set it to run automatically. From the FreeNAS admin interface, add a new cron job using the following command to run:
customize it to run as frequent as you wish. I have mine set to run every 2 hours.
